Dr Banerjee trained in cardiology in the Yorkshire Deanery and was appointed as a consultant cardiologist at the University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire in November 2004. He is an interventional cardiologist but his main role is to lead the heart failure service in his trust and in the Coventry & Warwickshire Cardiovascular Network. His other clinical interests include echocardiography and he currently also heads the non invasive department in his hospital. Dr Banerjee is an honorary Associate Professor at the University of Warwick. His research interests include diastolic heart failure and exercise training in heart failure using a novel method of electrical muscle stimulation of the legs. Outside of work he enjoys cricket, Shakespeare and poetry.

Dr. Hwa received his medical degree (with First Class Honors) from the University of Sydney, Sydney, Australia in 1986. He completed his Residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowship in Cardiology at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney, Australia, in 1992. He then pursued further studies in the Department of Molecular Cardiology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation during which time he completed his doctoral thesis through Case Western Reserve University (1996). Dr. Hwa was then awarded a Howard Hughes Physician Postdoctoral Fellowship to continue studies at M.I.T in the laboratory of Nobel Laureate, H. Gobind Khorana. He joined the faculty At Dartmouth (Pharmacology and Toxicology and Medicine) in 2000, and moved to Yale (Section of Cardiovascular Medicine) in 2009.

Syamasundar Rao is Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine and Emeritus Chief of Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Texas-Houston Medical School and Professor of Pediatrics at the University Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas, USA. Dr. Rao received his medical degree from Andhra Medical College/University, Visakhapatnam, India where he subsequently served internship and began pediatric training. Following completion of pediatric training in USA, he received training in Pediatric Cardiology at Stanford University, Case-Western Reserve University and University of California at Los Angeles. After training he joined the faculty at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, Georgia, USA, then rose to the rank of Professor of Pediatrics and Associate Director of Pediatric Cardiology. Dr. Rao authored 350 papers, eight monographs/books and 55 book chapters. He had 230 abstract presentations at various national and international scientific societies and his invited presentations were 150.

Duraisamy Balaguru studied in medical schools in India. Postgraduate training was obtained in India, England and United States of America. His training included pediatrics, neonatology, pediatric cardiology including interventional cardiac catheterization and cardiac intensive care. He is currently, associate professor of pediatrics in the division of pediatric cardiology at University of Texas Houston Medical School. He is currently an attending physician at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston – practicing general cardiology, interventional cardiac catheterization and cardiac intensive care. His current research interests include evaluation of transcatheter therapy for congenital heart disease, evaluation of radiation exposure in children undergoing cardiac catheterization, mechanism of chylothorax, sedation/analgesia in postoperative cardiac patients, among others.

Dr. Joel A. Garcia is part of a multi-disciplinary team of health care providers specializing in Cardiovascular Diseases, Peripheral Vascular Disease, and Structural Heart Disease at the University of Colorado Hospital and Denver Health Medical Center. Dr. Garcia mostly works as an Interventional Cardiologist with training in advanced percutaneous therapies for coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease, and structural heart disease. He has been certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, Endovascular Board and Interventional Cardiology. Dr. Garcia received his MD from the “Madre y Maestra” Pontifical Catholic University in Santiago, Dominican Republic where he was born and raised. He is board-certified in Intern al Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases and Interventional Cardiology; his specialty is Interventional Cardiology. Dr. Del Core received the 2007 Golden Apple Award for excellence in teaching and dedication to patient care

Alexander Ghanem received the M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Bonn, Germany, in 2003. In his dissertation, he validated the accuracy of echocardiography in mice. He currently serves as the Leader of the research workgroup Experimental Sonography and Sonotherapy and works as attending in interventional cardiology at the Department of Medicine/Cardiology at the University Hospital Bonn. Ghanem is currently appointed as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Bonn.

Dr. K-Raman Purushothaman MD, research medical pathologist with more than 15 years of expertise in cardiovascular pathology by evaluating plaque compositional changes in atherosclerosis. His focus of interest is to identify etiopathogenesis of vulnerable plaque features that includes neovasculaization, intra plaque hemorrhage, apoptosis, oxidative stress, inflammation, medial artery calcification and fibrosis using advanced histopathological techniques. He is involved in detailed study of plaque compositional changes leading to plaque progression and regression associated with risk factors such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension and haptoglobin genotypes.

Dr. Donna Wang is a Professor in the Department of Medicine, Neuroscience Program, and Cell & Molecular Biology Program at Michigan State University. She also serves as the Director of Investigational Medicine and the Vice Chair for Basic Research for the Department of Medicine. She completed her medical degree at Sun Yat-Sen University School of Medical Sciences (1984) and was a postdoctoral fellow in Physiology at Eastern Virginia Medical School (1987-1990). Dr. Wangs research interests lie in cardiovascular pharmacology and physiology, hypertension, salt sensitivity, and hormonal and neuronal control of blood pressure.
